HCF celebrated its 21st Anniversary with joint attendance of Ortigas, Tondo and Pangarap churches. Worship was whole heartedly led by a combination of the Ortigas and Tondo worship teams. Special numbers were also performed by Pangarap and Tondo HCF.
Program was lively with a trio of emcees guiding the celebration – Emo, Tat and Ed. A message from Ptr. Andrew was read to the congregation giving inspiration to the resilient church surviving the last crisis by Ondoy and giving a continuing challenge for evangelism and discipleship. Report from Ortigas, Tondo, Pangarap, Bulacan and Nueva Ecija were given and inspired everyone to push forward in spreading the gospel.
HCF Ortigas ordained a new associate pastor. Bro. Bari Panopio took up the servant leadership challenge and was ordained by Ptr. Raul and Ptra. Lyn. The congregation prayed for our new pastor.
Ptr. Henry Manuncia was our guest in sharing the Word from the Book of Joshua. His message was to protect the Filipino family of which HCF is a microcosm. Weapons given to us were: Choice, Unity and Purity. As Joshua said “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.” This was the CUP, as in Gideon taken in a time of war and in the book of Psalms which overflows even when we are surrounded by enemies.
The day ended in a heart sandwich fellowship. God bless!!!

Last Sunday, August 30, was the last time we were holding worship service at the Gilmore venue. This being the 5th Sunday, we celebrated “Batang K.” Joining us were the children of Cenep and our brethren from Pangarap. Worship was led also by Sonshine Kids with costumes from other countries. Not to be mistaken for a UN day, the reason for the costumes is that they have prayed for children of countries from around the world. The children from Cenep – recited memory verses and did a dance interpretation of Bayan Ko. Sonshine Kids also did a performance near the end of the service. There was also a child dedication and a sharing from Sis. Winnie from Pangarap.

The Summer Voice Workshop ended last Sunday, May 31, 2009. The last session was well attended with representative from HCF Gilmore, Tondo and Pangarap present. There were also guests from other churches.
Everyone prepared an hour before the workshop for their solo numbers and gamely sang when called upon by Bro. Larrie, who gave his critique (both positive and negative). Everyone took it well and hopefully would exert efforts toward their improvement.
Overall the workshop was fun with undertones of seriousness – even when Bro. Larrie would make everyone laugh with his antiques.
There was merienda fellowship after it all. The food though quickly vanished since the participants worked up an appetite after singing.
Watch out for part II of the this Voice Workshop. Many thanks to Bro. Larrie, Sis. Meann and especially Ptr. Andrew for his generosity.

All graduates were recognized last sunday, which was coincidentally Sonshine Kids Sunday. There were several who graduated coming from various levels of education.
Children from the Mandaluyong CENEP also presented some songs to the congregation.
Bro. Orlan on the otherhand concluded the Spiritual Gifts Sermon Series with a discussion on John 15:1-8. Here our Lord Jesus uses the analogy of the vine, gardener, fruit and branches to illustrate and clarify spiritual concepts. God the Father as the gardener is looking for fruit as every gardener does. We as branches need to be attached to the vine, which is Jesus, in order to bear fruit. To be attached means to abide – to obey Jesus’ command, which is to love one another. Fruit here can mean two things – character (the fruit of the Spirit) and a harvest of souls (which is expected of someone having the character produced by the Spirit). Where does the Spiritual Gifts fit in this picture? These are implemented as we abide in Christ and they result in fruit which God seeks.

The music of Jerome Rico and Kevin filled the HCF Gilmore Hall last Feb 22, 2009. Both were very gifted artist/instrumentalists and were invited through the initiative of Sis. Meann Ilustre, who first saw them perform at another church venue in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. The event was designed as break from the monthly Artalk.
True enough the two artists did not fail to meet what was expected of them. They wowed the crowd that night. Sis. Virgie even tested Jerome’s skills by requesting a song which was out of his repertoire, Wind beneath My Wings by B. Midler, which he was able to play skillfully from memory.
Also played as front act where HCF’s homegrown Mike and Nico. In a few years, they may match up to the skills of Jerome and Kevin. Ptr. Raul closed the night in a short “Jazztalk.” How our lives is sometimes like “Jazz,” sometimes unruly but can be made into good music under the hands of God who is the creator of music.
Watch out for future plans of HCF to invite again Jerome Rico. You may check out his music at Youtube or Imeem.
